What items to have for your Keepsake Flat-lay photo

The what and whys of flat-lay keepsake photos

Why to have flat-lays photos taken?

They are a beautiful way to bring together your style, details and legacy in a keepsake. This isn’t just about your wedding day but about the legacy.

Flat-lay photos help harness the story of your wedding day. They help tell the story and feel of your love story.

What details should I include in my Flat-lay?

The old saying Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue is a great way to start.

This isn’t to say you have to have something blue but you get the idea of a starting place.

  • -Your invitation suite! I suggest placing it between two different cardboard as to make sure that it doesn’t bend and in fact does “lay flat” Save the date (again place them with the invitation so that they remain flat)
  • -Sentimental ring box (if you don’t have one you love you can talk to your photographer)
  • -Rings (if you want your rings photographed make sure to have your and your fiance's rings with your box of goods)
  • -Jewelry (this includes any jewelry you plan to wear and any heirloom jewelry you might want photographed)
  • -Your veil
  • -Your shoes
  • -Your bouquet
  • -Your perfume
  • -Your fiance's boutineer
  • -Floral trimmings/lay flat florals (ask your florist for these)
  • -Decorations and other items you might have for the day (this might be menus, programs, small items that might be present decorating the reception area)
  • -Any other details that might be mean something to you (this could be notes to the groom, handkerchief, tea cup that is from your grandmother’s china?, gift to your bridesmaids… you name it and get creative!)

In addition to the bride's flat details there are groom details he needs to have ready as well!

-Shoes

-Tie

-Dress socks

-Boutineer

-Cuff links

-Watch

-There might be other small details that you might want to include like a custom flask or a groom gift, etc get creative/personal!
